The story follows three friends, Koobrin, Tharun, and Ram, whose heedless, carefree days take a sharp turn after a mysterious man enters their lives and hints at a deeper, more meaningful purpose to existence. Koobrin, from a middle‑class family, dreams of a motorcycle from his father as a reward for choosing engineering, a path he doesn’t feel passionate about. Ram, the wealthier member of the group, drifts through engineering with little enthusiasm. Their bond is forged in reckless, carefree days, and even when life pushes back, they remain inseparable. Their hostel is behind them when they are shipped off to live with the laid‑back professor Chandran sir and his loyal dog Koothara. Ram falls for Shilpa, a shop worker nearby, while Koobrin channels his energy into a string of college flings. The most dramatic moment comes when Shistha, Koobrin’s last conquest, betrays him during the college festival, and the trio confronts her in front of everyone, leading to their expulsion from the college and the end of their formal education.

With reality setting in, the friends scatter under the weight of their failures. Tharun must accept the life of a painter; Ram endures constant belittlement at home and tries a string of jobs that fail; Koobrin is sent to a seminary to train as a priest. Even a wedding in Chandran sir’s circle underscores how far they have fallen compared to their peers, highlighting the distance between their potential and their current lives.

The second earthquake – Yellowtooth: Hope for a better future

In an attempt to reclaim their footing, the trio reframe themselves as professionals and launch an IT startup called Yellowtooth. They even resort to taking money from home to fund aggressive, and imprudent, investments, despite lacking managerial experience. The launch feels hopeful—until a brutal burst of mismanagement and overconfidence sends the company spiraling into debt. Amid the wreckage, a possible bright spot emerges in their neighbor Swathi, a single mother whose child was indirectly involved in the earlier prank that strained Tharun’s relationship with his peers. Swathi becomes a stabilizing, compassionate presence in their lives, offering a glimmer of possibility amid the chaos.

The third earthquake – AK47: Usthad and his nefarious plans

When every employee quits and the debt piles up, the trio makes a desperate decision to shut Yellowtooth down. One night, they connect with a mysterious group of fishermen led by a strange man who invites them to a quiet gathering that turns out to be more than a casual encounter. The man claims to be a cursed merman and invites them to a oceanic venture—an available fishing boat that promises enormous profits if they stake the money. With Swathi’s help they mortgage Shilpa’s property and purchase the boat, known as Aale-kolli, popularly called AK47, from Usthad Sali. They discover too late that the boat carries a dark reputation: it is believed to have caused many deaths on its voyages. The seller is none other than Usthad Sali, who has tricked them into overpaying for a vessel that is far from seaworthy.

Reluctantly, the trio, along with their loyal dog Koothara, take AK47 out to sea for its inaugural voyage. A fierce storm and a near‑fatal encounter with the sea put their lives at stake, and their only rescue comes from Usthad Sali himself, who reveals that he engineered the trap as revenge for the trio’s earlier meddling. Stranded with dwindling cash and dwindling hope, they face the grim choice: die slowly from hunger, or poison themselves with the vial Usthad left on board. In a pivotal moment, Tharun reveals a personal truth about a past affair with Swathi, further complicating their fragile bond.

No more earthquakes – The trio triumphs

Refusing to surrender to despair, the three friends rebuild their resolve. They repair the boat and return to fishing, this time with a sharper sense of purpose. They begin to succeed by leaning on what they know rather than chasing untested shortcuts. Yellowtooth begins to regain its footing, and the trio gradually finds their footing in life. Ram marries Shilpa, and Tharun marries Swathi. Koobrin begins a relationship with an old classmate, Roshni. A wedding night prank involving a hidden microphone reveals that Tharun is the father of Swathi’s child, introducing a new dynamic to their relationships. The narrative culminates with Koothara the dog narrating the tale to his son, while Usthad Sali is shown swimming in distant seas with two mermaids—free at last from the curse that haunted his past.

The film layers humor with hardship, exploring themes of friendship, responsibility, and the stubborn, sometimes painful, road to personal growth. Its arc moves from carefree irresponsibility to hard‑won maturity, trading reckless risk for resilient solidarity, and ending on a note that suggests new beginnings for each character while leaving the sea’s mysteries lingering just beyond the horizon.
