Christopher, better known as Kid, is on the brink of marrying his longtime girlfriend Veda Pratt, while his best friend Peter, who goes by Play, dives deeper into the music scene and takes on the risky job of managing a hard-edged female rap act called Sex as a Weapon. The plan for a big break hinges on booking a concert with the formidable promoter Showboat, but the group’s fate becomes tangled when the act decides to part ways with Play and hire a new manager. Now Play must figure out a way to shepherd them to the show and avoid Showboat’s formidable, all-female security force, or risk alienating the promoter who could make or break their careers.

As the duo tries to stay afloat, the situation spirals further. Play is juggling the chaos of planning Kid’s bachelor party while attempting to keep Kid’s three younger Detroit cousins—who affectionately call themselves Immature—in check. Adding fuel to the fire, Kid’s ex-girlfriend Sydney returns to town, which immediately unsettles Veda. The tension intensifies when Kid’s cousins hijack the bachelor party, not wanting the celebration to go forward without their own showcase. They move the event from a rented hotel ballroom to Aunt Lucy’s house, and the party at the ballroom itself stumbles as Play’s cousin Stinky brings in a crowd of very obese women, a move that reflects the cousins’ own offbeat humor and complications.

Throughout this chaotic stretch, Showboat remains in the background, hunting for Kid and Play to recover the money he believes is owed, yet he becomes momentarily sidetracked by the unpredictable presence of Kid’s mischievous cousins.
