Drug raid and arrest of Woody's wife

Inspector Sam Lam leads a major drug raid and arrests the wife of Hoi Lung Triad leader Woody. The operation exposes the volatile feud between the police and the triads. Woody pleads through Sau-chung to negotiate for his wife's release.

Sau-chung negotiates in restaurant; Sam is killed

Sau-chung meets Sam in a restaurant to negotiate. Earlier that night, Sau-chung had been abducted by thugs and released on a highway. Sam Lam is shot dead by killers, escalating the conflict between the factions.

Leung suspects Sau-chung; raid Koo mansion

Inspector Leung Chun-pong suspects Sau-chung's involvement in Sam's murder. He leads his squad to search the Koo mansion but fails to find any evidence and leaves empty-handed.

York plans exile for Sau-chung to Taiwan

York arranges for his father to flee to Taiwan to avoid arrest. The move is intended to preserve Sam Lam's reputation as an officer and to buy time for Sau-chung.

Sau-chung appoints Mark and entrusts York

Michael injures Woody; Fred sabotages Woody

Michael injures Woody's head, believing he set up his father. Fred, leader of Keung Wan, sabotages Woody and accuses Sau-chung of framing Sam's murder, prompting Woody to send his underlings to kill Hung Hing gangsters.

York ambushed en route to negotiation

York arranges a negotiation with Sam, but on the way he is ambushed by Fred's thugs. He fights them off, proving his resolve and leadership.

Macau plans revealed; ambush at ferry port

Leung discovers York and Mark are traveling to Macau and leads his squad to the ferry port. They are ambushed in the parking lot by Fred's hitmen, and Mark recognizes one of Sam's murderer.

Mark dies; York becomes leader; mass arrests

Mark is mortally wounded during the firefight. After his death, York is elected leader of Hung Hing and orders a brutal crackdown on Hung Lung and Keung Wan's gangsters. Police arrest York, Fred, and Woody and detain them for 48 hours.

Leung and York form uneasy alliance; pursuit continues

After the detention, Leung tail York and reluctantly pursues an uneasy alliance. York reunites with his girlfriend Jenny and leads his men to kill Fred's hitmen, while Leung saves him from a shootout and ultimately lets him go, informing him that Sau-chung is innocent.

Woody and Michael confrontations; Woody killed

Back at Woody's office, Michael is attacked by Woody's rivals; Woody stabs Michael during a scuffle. Fred shoots Woody in a restroom as he flees.

Leung urges cooperation; York seeks revenge

Leung tries to persuade York to cooperate with the police, but York remains determined to seek revenge on Fred. He also delays his wedding with Jenny.

Memorial clash and final confrontation

During a Taosist memorial for Mark and Sam, Fred arrives with his gang armed with machetes. York leads his own armed followers as riot police attempt to intervene. The pursuit ends at a construction site where York defeats Fred and is arrested.
