Mira Kishore [Preeti Panigrahi] is a high school student who achieves a historic milestone: she becomes the first girl in her boarding school to be named Head Prefect while also sitting at the top of the class. The campus celebrates with cheers, but Mira’s mood stays cool and wary as she watches her mother, Anila [Kani Kusruti], distribute sweets on school grounds. Mira hammers out a reminder—parents aren’t allowed on campus—yet Anila, an alumna of the same school, points out that the rule doesn’t apply to former students. The moment hints at a larger, more personal pride for Mira, even as the social rules tug at her.

In the midst of the pride, Mira’s world broadens with a new friendship. She meets Sri [Kesav Binoy Kiron], a fellow student with a bright curiosity for the stars, and their shared stargazing session becomes a doorway to something deeper. The late-night conversations stretch into confidences, numbers are exchanged, and the bond between Mira and Sri begins to feel inevitable. A confrontation with a group of boys Mira had previously reported shakes her, and she ends up locking herself in the girls’ hostel, dialing Anila to take her home. The event triggers a sharp clash between Anila and Miss Bansal, who critiques Mira’s falling academic performance and casts a wary eye on the leniency she perceives in Anila’s parenting—while Anila defends Mira, insisting she’s doing her best under difficult circumstances.

When Sri later joins Mira and Anila at home, he offers his view on human nature and power, describing how people can be nudged into giving you what you want.
