Dr. Arun Kumar, Fahadh Faasil, is a young oncologist based in Dubai who lives off credit cards, zips around in luxurious cars, and savors life with a carefree ease that glosses over the future. Meanwhile, Maya, Samvrutha Sunil, a relative of Savithri and a fashion designer who has spent time in the UK and Paris and now resides in Dubai, becomes a pivotal figure in Arun’s life. Maya is engaged to Deepak, who is in France, but her world is upended when a cancer diagnosis requires Savithri’s medical care. Deepak departs, leaving Maya feeling isolated and fragile. While caretaking Maya’s belongings in the ward, Arun notices a diamond necklace worth ₹70 lakhs, a detail that will foreshadow much of what follows.

One day, Venu, Sreenivasan, a laborer from Arun’s home town in Kerala, informs him that his mother is ill. Unable to leave Dubai due to the ever-present debt burden, Arun turns to Narayana Menon, Maniyanpilla Raju—a local connection from his homeland—who arranges for Arun to obtain permission to travel back to India. Once back, he is manipulated into marrying Narayana’s niece, Rajasree, Anusree Nair, a village girl with little understanding of city life. The marriage is pragmatic for Arun’s cash-strapped situation, but it tethers him to a new set of moral complications.

Back in Dubai, Arun discovers that his friend’s family has returned and that he can no longer stay where he is. He searches for a living space but finds himself unable to pay an advance, forcing him to move to a labor camp where Venu also resides. Lakshmi learns of Arun’s marriage and ends their clandestine relationship, forcing Arun to re-evaluate his path. He then ends up staying with Maya, who is seeking someone to share her spacious flat. Arun and Maya grow closer, and Maya remains unaware that Arun is already married. Savithri presses Arun to vacate Maya’s flat and to bring Rajasree to Dubai, setting a heavy, orchestrated chain of obligations into motion. The closeness between Arun and Maya deepens; on Maya’s last day in her flat, they share a moment of intimacy, unaware that their secret is about to be exposed. Maya eventually spots Arun with Rajasree in a mall, an encounter that shatters her emotionally and worsens her illness. In a desperate bid to ease Maya’s pain, Arun administers an overdose of morphine after she asks for relief. To cover his escalating debts, Arun steals Maya’s diamond necklace and replaces it with a fake, intending to return the real necklace once his loan is settled.

Venu steps in, paying the first installment to the bank and arranging a plan for Arun to repay in installments, a gesture that offers a fragile lifeline. Maya’s condition worsens due to the overdose, and Lakshmi—who had initially administered the first dose at the hospital—faces disciplinary action and is dismissed from duty. Maya eventually leaves the hospital, leaving behind a gift envelope for Rajasree to be given by her husband, Arun. When Arun opens the envelope, he discovers that the gift contains the fake necklace he had placed there, a cruel reminder of his deceit.

In a final turn, Arun drops Lakshmi at the airport and places the original necklace into her bag, enabling her to pursue the hospital dream she and her mother had envisioned. Maya, now in a remote Himalayan valley, lives a lonely but hopeful life, remembering Arun’s counsel to live without being haunted by the past or future.
