Barbie: Star Light Adventure 2016

Prophesy long foretold that someday the stars will cease their cosmic dance and go out unless The One can rekindle their glow and restore order to the galaxy. As darkness spreads across the skies, the rigid, meticulous King Constantine, Dwight Schultz, clings to the belief that he must be The One and hatches a new plan to prove himself by assembling a team of young allies to help him seize the moment.

On the distant wildlife preserve planet Para-Den, Barbie, Erica Lindbeck, is an enthusiastic yet impulsive Hoverboarder who can communicate telepathically with animals and even move objects with a subtle telekinetic push. She’s initially wary of Constantine’s invitation, but her widowed father, Michael Chandler, convinces her to take a chance, and she journeys to the Capital Planet to join the mission.

At a grand ball, Constantine unveils the crew he believes will carry his plan to success: Sal-Lee, Kimberly Woods, a sarcastic, fiercely competitive hoverboarder; the socially awkward and naive Prince Leo, Robbie Daymond, renowned as the galaxy’s best pilot; and the kindhearted alien sisters Kareena and Sheena, Sarah Anne Williams, who share a psychic link and can manipulate gravity to lighten or heavy-load objects. The moment Leo is pressured to perform a formal waltz, Sal-Lee pushes him into the spotlight and he’s humiliated, prompting Barbie to step in by launching a spontaneous rave that lets him dance in his own style. Constantine, though, views the disruption as chaos and curtails the moment. In the wake of that friction, Barbie and Sal-Lee find common ground, staying up past curfew and discovering a shared fear of losing the rest of the stars, their bond growing in quiet, personal ways.

Constantine lays out his audacious plan to locate the center of the galaxy and use a device to force the stars into rigid order. He sends Barbie and Sal-Lee on a hoverboard race through a course designed to test their ability to shepherd the twins through gravity-driven hurdles. Barbie spots danger ahead and uses her powers to help the twins and Sal-Lee navigate the course, even saving Sal-Lee from a falling chunk of debris. Constantine is impressed by Barbie’s skill yet worried that she keeps defying orders.

The tension peaks during a training mission to capture a Starlian creature. The team completes the exercise with flair through dance, but Barbie senses the Starlian’s terror and insists they release it, believing Constantine intends to confine it for study rather than seek its help. Furious at her defiance and misreading his own plan, Constantine fires Barbie on the spot. She apologizes, but not for doing what she believed was right, and she uses her telekinesis to summon the Starlian and ask it for aid. Under pressure from the rest of the team, Constantine yields and reinstates Barbie as their leader.

With Barbie back in command, the mission advances toward the galaxy’s core, guided and protected by the Starlian. Leo pilots the team to the central planet, a tense chorus of skillful maneuvers and careful teamwork. Barbie, Sal-Lee, Kareena, and Sheena push the gravity-bending boundaries, clearing a path for Constantine and his machine to reach the core where the avatars of the stars reside. They confront the moment of crisis at the planet’s heart, and Constantine, stubborn and confident in his plan, activates the device. In an instant, all the stars surrender their light, plunging the cosmos into inky silence.

Barbie feels the stars’ sorrow as they fade and begins a new, shimmering dance with them, a hopeful beat that rekindles their warmth. Her duet with the stars restores their glow and order to the Galaxy, proving herself worthy of being the One. As the celestial light returns, Constantine lowers his guard and accepts a new, shared path: while their personalities may clash, they can learn from one another. He welcomes Barbie and her father as wards, a mark of trust and humility.

The journey home culminates in a hopeful future. Barbie, now crowned as Princess Starlight, and her friends teach Constantine how to dance at a lively rave, a symbol of unity and renewal for the entire cosmos.
