Kat's life after her father's death

After the death of her father Jason, seventeen-year-old Kat Decker is left under the control of her cruel stepmother Deirdre and her snobbish stepsisters. They work her like a servant, control her inheritance, and skim much of her wages to supposedly care for her disabled dog Bruno. Kat dreams of earning enough money to move out and chase her music career.

Kat and Isla perform at Santa Land

Kat and her best friend Isla perform as singers and songwriters at the Christmas-themed park Santa Land under a strict supervisor, Mr. Mujiza. The job provides a stage for Kat's talent but adds pressure and restrictions. Kat keeps her songwriting dreams alive while balancing the demanding gig.

Nick meets Kat as the new Santa

A teenage boy who is the mysterious new Santa, Dominic 'Nick' Wintergarden, is smitten after hearing Kat sing. He later reveals he secretly manages a few bands, though he has never disclosed this to his father. His dual life hints at the conflicts to come with Terrence.

The plan to attend the charity event

Deirdre learns that Terrence was Kat's late father's best friend and schemes to use that connection to attend Terrence's charity event. They decide that Deirdre will pose as the widow and Joy will impersonate Kat while the real Kat stays at home. The plan reveals the extent of the stepfamily's manipulation.

The invitation and the deception

A letter from Terrence invites Deirdre and Katherine Decker to the Winters' charity event, paving the way for Joy to impersonate Kat. The real Kat remains unaware at this point, setting the stage for a confrontation when the truth surfaces.

Christmas Eve attraction grows

As Christmas Eve approaches, Kat and Nick grow closer, and Nick gives Kat an invitation to the Wintergarden charity event. She accepts with a mix of excitement and fear, recognizing the possible escape route from her stepfamily.

Nick reveals his true identity

The next day, Nick reveals his true identity to Kat and urges her to do the same. Kat hesitates to reveal her feelings or the truth about the scam, but Isla convinces her to go to the event, offering support and a handmade green dress.

The dress is stolen and the invitation burned

The morning after, Deirdre steals Kat's green dress and burns the invitation to prevent her from going to the event. Kat learns from Bruno that the stepfamily is exploiting her identity, triggering a determination to stop them.

A chilly reception at Nick's circle

Isla informs Kat that Dominic invited her to come over to his home to hear her sing with a friend, but Kat is met with a chilly reception from Nick's circle, especially his girlfriend Skyler. She leaves feeling hurt and more anxious about facing the event.

The charity event begins

On the day of the charity event, Kat discovers her stepfamily in possession of her late father's snow globe, which breaks during the struggle. Bruno finds Terrence's invitation letter, strengthening Kat's resolve to expose the scam. Isla uses her access as a dressmaker for the show's main sequence to help Kat pass as an elf performer.

Kat becomes Snow Queen

Kat is forced onto the stage for the Snow Queen segment after an earlier mishap. She overcomes initial fears and delivers a heartfelt performance despite the chaos. Her perseverance helps her connect with the audience and, importantly, with Nick on stage.

Nick and Kat reconnect on stage

In the midst of the performance, Nick and Kat find each other; he apologizes for hurting her, and she apologizes for letting the show go off track. Nick encourages Kat to follow her dreams for her late father, and they finish the performance together with a sincere, hopeful moment.

Terrence intervenes and orders the stepfamily out

After the performance, Terrence introduces himself to Kat and offers to help as a last wish to his late friend, then orders Deirdre and her daughters to leave. Nick and Kat share a dance and begin a future together, free from the immediate threat of the scam.
