Biography

Who Is Reeve Carney?

Reeve Carney was born in New York City, U.S. in 1983 and is 43 years old. Credited on films since 2016, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.

Reeve Jefferson Carney (born April 18, 1983) is an American actor, musician, singer, and songwriter who has built a remarkable career spanning both the Broadway stage and the rock music scene. Born and raised in the West Village area of Manhattan alongside his brother Zane and sister Paris, Carney was immersed in a creative household from a young age, with his father John working as a songwriter for commercials and his mother Marti pursuing careers as a singer, actress, and jewelry designer. He is also the grand-nephew of the legendary Academy Award-winning actor Art Carney. Carney's musical journey began early, learning piano as a child and performing in commercials before being selected at just eight years old to sing at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall with the iconic folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. By age ten, he had already recorded a song with the New York City Children's Choir for Michael Jackson's 1995 album HIStory.

Carney later moved to Los Angeles to attend the Academy of Music at Alexander Hamilton High School, where he studied alongside his brother Zane and future bandmates Aiden Moore and Jon Epcar. He went on to study studio jazz guitar at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. At just 12 years old, he began playing guitar, and by 15 he was performing professionally at B.B. King's nightclub in Los Angeles. In 2004, Carney released his first solo EP Looking Glass and later signed with Interscope Records, forming his jazz-infused rock band simply called Carney. The band released their debut album Mr. Green Vol. 1 in May 2010, toured with The Veronicas, and even opened for Arcade Fire and U2 during the final date of the U2 360° Tour in Moncton, Canada. Carney's solo work includes the 2016 album Youth Is Wasted, which won several Independent Music Awards.

On the acting side, Carney first appeared on screen in The Saint of Fort Washington (1993) and earned critical acclaim for his role in Snow Falling on Cedars (1999), winning Best Performance in a Feature Film at the 21st Young Artist Awards. He later originated the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, starred as Dorian Gray in Showtime's Penny Dreadful, and played Riff Raff in Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again. His most celebrated stage role came in 2017 when he originated the part of Orpheus in Hadestown, a performance he maintained for over six years, including runs at the Citadel Theatre, the Royal National Theatre, and on Broadway, where the production won the Tony Award. In 2025, Carney made his West End debut in Cabaret opposite his wife, Eva Noblezada, and in 2026 he began starring as Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby on Broadway.
