Damaris Lewis, born on October 10, 1990 in Brooklyn, New York, is an American model, actress, dancer, and television personality who has built a multifaceted career across fashion, film, and live performance. Raised by West Indian parents from St. Kitts, she honed her artistic sensibilities at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, where a conservatory‑style dance program sparked her love for movement. Discovered while performing with the Restoration Dance Theater at Chelsea Piers, Lewis signed with Elite Model Management during her second year of high school and quickly rose to prominence, landing three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit features from 2009 to 2011. Her runway and editorial work includes campaigns for luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, L'Oréal, and MAC Cosmetics, as well as appearances in Essence, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and GQ. Lewis leveraged her modeling platform into acting, debuting with a brief dance cameo in the 2011 thriller Limitless and later portraying Odetta in Spike Lee’s acclaimed BlacKkKlansman (2018). She gained wider recognition with her role as Blackfire on the DC Universe/HBO Max series Titans (2019–2021), eventually becoming a series regular for the third season, and as Jazmine Wintour on FX’s groundbreaking series Pose (2018).
Beyond the camera, Lewis is celebrated for her dynamic work as a dancer, most notably as a muse and performer for the legendary musician Prince, touring with his New Power Generation from 2012 until his passing in 2016. Her on‑screen charisma extended to hosting duties, including co‑hosting NBA Style on TNT and NBA TV for three years and leading ESPN’s City Slam Dunk Competition in 2016. A committed philanthropist, she has volunteered with Project Sunshine, The Garden of Dreams Foundation, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, even chairing the foundation’s annual prom for underserved youth.
