The movie opens with Kyle waking up for a road trip meant to win over Jess. His friend Ben enters, and the trio heads out to pick up Jess, only to discover she already has a boyfriend named Rob. Back at the edge of the town, Jess finds a journal that echoes the opening lines of the film, and the discovery adds a layer of foreboding to the already strained mood. Kyle approaches the saloon doors and finds Ben stumbling and clutching his leg; the group carries Ben to the car, only to discover ignition wires have been tampered with and Jess’s phone has vanished. The plan shifts: Rob volunteers to go for help, while Kyle and Jess stay behind to guard what they can. Out in the night, Rob runs for help as wolves shadow him and close in from the darkness. He bursts back into the saloon, breathless and pursued, knocking Jess aside in the scramble to safeguard everyone inside. They barricade doors and windows, the air thick with fear as the wolves pace outside, and Kyle curls under the stairs, tears slipping down his cheeks.

From the shadowed upper floors, a wolf appears at the bar, leaping down to attack Rob. Rob fights with a desperate ferocity, smashing the creature with a chair leg, and the group absorbs the shock of the attack as Ben’s strangled cry cuts through the room and he collapses, slipping away in the chaos. Rob tries to rally the others to flee, but Kyle hesitates, torn between leaving and staying to honor Ben’s memory. Jess pushes him to move, and they carry Ben to a safer room, covering his head with a sweater in a last, lingering attempt to shield him. Rob tears through the floorboards to create a way out, and the trio makes a break for a nearby barn as more wolves close in.

Once at the barn, the wolves press forward, forcing Kyle to sprint toward his car to grab what they need while Rob creates a distraction. Rob’s quick dash is rewarded with a narrow escape, though he’s left to confront the pack again as Kyle and Jess move toward safety. A wolf trailing Ben’s body lingers near the car, and Jess rushes to help Kyle as danger closes in from all sides. They stumble into a nearby shed and discover dynamite waiting to be used as a desperate last resort. In the shed, Jess’s leg is grievously wounded, but the trio persists, tossing a distraction pack to buy time as they retreat into a house that hides a dim, ominous den—an unsettling room containing what appears to be a human femur.

Rob digs into his bag for a golden lighter as Kyle pores over the journal, which reveals a grim truth: the wolves won’t stop until everyone is dead. Rob instructs Kyle to take care of Jess, and the night pressure builds to a fever pitch. The bold plan for survival begins to crystallize: Rob announces that he will go out to fetch dynamite. In a haunting sequence, Rob slips out the top-story window and slips back into the night to retrieve a stick of dynamite from the shed. He returns to the house with the dynamite, intending to lure the wolves and blow them away. Inside, Jess and Kyle watch as a trio of wolves closes in on Rob, and a long, brutal struggle unfolds; Jess tries to help, but Kyle’s resolve hardens, and the wolves overpower Rob. The bodies of Rob and Ben lie side by side as the wolves finish their grim work.

Driven by a grim resolve, Kyle crawls toward the recovered dynamite and lighter, his fear tempered into hard, quiet determination. He retrieves the dynamite and a box from the shed, then makes a perilous ascent to the house’s upper level, where he swoops the lighter into the fuse with a final, decisive motion. He leaps from the roof just as the house explodes in fire and debris, a moment of brutal stillness following the blast. A lone wolf lingers at the wreckage but then retreats as Kyle, now steadied by grim purpose, faces the road with Jess. With the danger temporarily abated, they walk away, a quiet, tense goodbye to the friends they’ve lost along the way, the night’s terror lingering in the air as they move toward an uncertain future.
