Prince Malachi (Luke Goss) returns to the troubled kingdom of Draeganoth after his father’s death, stepping into a realm where fear and disarray gnaw at the heart of the people. A witchhunter named Kramer (Simon Thorp) arrives with a blunt claim: there is no famine or pestilence, only witchcraft at work, and with his book of magic they might have a chance to defeat it. Malachi, skeptical but not closed to possibility, agrees to let Kramer prove himself and calls together the villagers to witness a test of power. The uneasy alliance between prince, dissenting rationalist, and magical lore sets the stage for a journey that promises danger, betrayal, and a reckoning with the past.
Kramer warns that the kingdom’s troubles are the work of witches, not natural ills, and he pushes for action based on his arcane knowledge. As the town gathers, he casts a spell that conjures a red cloud advancing toward an old woman, and the villagers burn the supposed witch. As the flames rise, she cries out and warns that the Red Queen is coming. The eerie omen hangs in the air, hinting that the true threat lies not in mortal foes alone but in a lineage of power and prophecy. The spell’s echoing threat drives Malachi to press on, even as doubt gnaws at him.
Malachi and his companions set out on a quest to destroy the witches and restore the kingdom. They battle a group of brigands, whom Malachi convinces to join their cause, turning would-be raiders into unlikely allies. The band reaches a town that welcomes them with hospitality, a brief respite that gives them hope. Yet the red cloud reappears, emerging from their host and revealing enemies and the Red Queen herself. The group is swiftly overwhelmed: Erik is slain, Jason is taken prisoner, and the rest are forced into a hard retreat. The mounting losses sharpen Malachi’s resolve, even as the fight grows more desperate.
The Red Queen assaults the castle, seeking the sacred book of magic that Kramer and Malachi guard. Malachi tells Kramer to flee and hide the book, while the truth behind the Red Queen’s power starts to emerge: she is Malachi’s mother. The former king, desperate for an heir, had a daughter and a son; when the boy died, she used her powers to revive him. Fearing her extraordinary abilities, the king banished her. Jozefa overhears this revelation and learns that she has a brother, sown into the family’s broken history. The Red Queen urges Malachi to join her and surrender the book, but he refuses and is imprisoned with Kramer as the danger tightens around them.
Before Kramer dies, he realizes that, as Malachi is of the same blood, he alone holds the key to the prophecy that can kill the Red Queen. Jason convinces Jozefa to turn against the Red Queen and release him and then Malachi. Together they confront the Red Queen, but their power is not enough to defeat her in that moment. Then Malachi starts to understand the spell Kramer had taught him earlier, and realizes that he must kill himself and release the energy she once used to restore him. In a desperate, ritual act, he attempts to stab his mother, but she deflects the blade into him, and he falls. Jozefa takes the knife and stabs herself to mingle their blood. Malachi returns the blood to his mother, completing the circle by stabbing her successfully this time. Looking into her eyes he recites the spell shown to him by Kramer from the book:
Not of my mother. Nor my father. I am born of the Light. My faith it surrounds me. It protects me from your might. The earth. Water. The fire and sky. In our elemental combat, you shall die.
The incantation, coupled with the blood sacrifice, fulfills the prophecy and finally kills the Red Queen.
After the victory, Malachi holds a funeral for Erik, a quiet moment of mourning that is interrupted by a looming sense of foreboding. In the background, two minions watch as a new ominous red cloud of magic begins to form, hinting that the danger may not be entirely finished and that the cycle of power and danger could rise again.
