The film, set in 1992, opens with the wedding of Oh Sung-Eun’s older sister — the bride Park Ye-jin. The ceremony becomes a mirror for the high school girls watching from the sidelines, stirring envy as they dream of finding their own true love. At the center of these hopes are Sung-Eun Song Eun-Chae, Soo-yeon Jeon Hye-bin, and Mi-sook Park Seul-gi, each navigating their own insecurities about popularity and belonging, especially in the shadow of the glamor surrounding Baek-Saemi Shin Joo-ah.

Into this mix arrives Kang Bong-Goo Lee Ji-hoon, a new student-teacher whose odd quirk—farting when aroused—adds a strange, offbeat edge to the classroom dynamics. A friend teases him about whether the issue is real and suggests watching the provocative film The Lover, a suggestion that unexpectedly brings the girls into the same cinema. The very next day, Sung-Eun finds herself drawn to Bong-Goo in class, and the stage is set for a tension-filled pursuit of affection.

A playful rivalry soon deepens into something more complicated as Sung-Eun encounters Baek-Saemi in her bid for Bong-Goo’s attention. The dares grow bolder: Baek-Saemi challenges Sung-Eun to initiate a sexual encounter with Bong-Goo, prompting Sung-Eun to explore her sexuality. She visits Bong-Goo’s home and comes away believing she has had sex, only to realize she did not take contraceptive measures, which brings a practical, real-world concern into their nascent romance.

Seeking guidance amid these intimate questions, the girls turn to Sung-inhwa, a fellow student who offers sex-education insights. The plot later reveals that Sung-inhwa harbors a secret affection for Soo-yeon, adding another layer to the evolving relationships among the group. Throughout, Sung-Eun also grapples with her own body and timing, recognizing that she cannot be pregnant yet because she has not had her first period.

After she experiences her first period, Sung-Eun makes another attempt to pursue Bong-Goo, but disappointment returns when she notices him spending time with Baek-Saemi. The story culminates in a surprising revelation: Bong-Goo’s involvement with Baek-Saemi includes mentoring her about her relationship with teacher Kim-dong-soo, a connection that reshapes the dynamics among the students, the adults around them, and their evolving understandings of love, desire, and consequence.
