Vampire Sisters 2012

In a warmly imagined tale of identity and belonging, the two twelve-year-old half-vampire sisters Silvania Tepes Marta Martin and Dakaria Tepes Laura Roge leave Transylvania for a quiet German town with their father Mihai Tepes Stipe Erceg and their mother Elvira Tepes Christiane Paul. The change is a culture shock for these very different sisters: Dakaria struggles to fit in among humans, while Silvania seems to slip more easily into everyday life among her new classmates. At school, their attempts to blend in are complicated by the presence of a potential crush—Silvania forms a tentative romance with Jacob, adding tenderness to the mix while testing her limits under the sun, which she senses more acutely than her peers.

Dakaria, meanwhile, finds only one true friend in Helene Steinbrück Jamie Bick, a girl who loves life despite being hard of hearing. The turning point arrives when they stumble upon Ali bin Schick’s shop Richy Müller, a merchant who can grant wishes. He cautions them that wishes are dangerous, but the sisters are convinced they know what would fix their lives: Silvania wishes to become fully human, and Dakaria longs to become fully vampire.

Yet desires collide when their wishes are swapped in the heat of the moment, throwing their lives into new and unintended directions. Silvania’s longing to drink Jacob’s blood, and Dakaria’s newly found susceptibility to the school’s bullies, force them to confront the consequences of tinkering with fate. Realizing the swap, they race to find Ali bin Schick again, hoping to reverse the spell. Ludo, Ali’s grandson and a classmate of the sisters Jonas Holdenrieder, unexpectedly holds the key: he knows the formula for an antidote, but to obtain it they must secure a moonlit flower that blooms only at midnight.

What follows is a series of careful, secretive steps, with Helene joining the covert search for the fabled flower in the local cemetery and the two sisters testing the limits of their powers and their bond. Dirk van Kombast intensifies his pursuit, determined to trap them as vampires, but the tide shifts when Ludo reveals a broader vision about the nature of their situation and lends his knowledge to the quest. Together they locate the flower, navigate the eerie quiet of the cemetery at midnight, and confront the danger that has shadowed their days.

In the end, the sisters manage to secure the antidote and find their way back to their half-vampire identities, learning important lessons about who they are and who they want to become. The experience leaves Silvania and Dakaria more aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and more connected to one another, ready to face the complexities of adolescence with newfound resilience.
