What Is Vacancy About?

Brasília, once hailed as the 'city of hope' and the 20th century’s ultimate utopia, is now a protected cultural heritage site. In his 1998 travelogue, the filmmaker weaves amateur clips and feature‑film excerpts shot on location in the early 1960s. He portrays the capital as a deserted museum, alive only through its staff, its inhabitants long gone.
