Adam Jim Sturgess narrates a sweeping, intertwined tale set in a two-planet world bound by a rare physics called dual gravity, where neighboring heavens hang so close that gravity from both sides shapes every facet of life. The upper world, Up Top, gleams with wealth and opportunity, while the lower world, Down Below, bears the weight of poverty and crowded streets. A carefully engineered economy keeps them apart: Down Below supplies cheap oil, and Up Top sells electricity back to Down Below at higher prices. Direct contact between the two sides is forbidden by law, a strict rule enforced by incarceration or far harsher punishments. The only official physical bridge between the worlds is the Trans-world headquarters, a towering symbol of the system that controls every movement between the realms.
