Two Soldiers 1943

1941 on the Leningrad Front is a brutal test of endurance, where moments of brotherhood become lifelines for men under fire. Arkady Dzyubin, Mark Bernes, a machine gunner from Odessa, and Sasha Svintsov, Boris Andreyev, a steelworker from the Urals, forge a deep friendship that helps them endure the harsh days of combat and the constant threat of separation.

One day, after a one-day leave, the pair stroll the city streets and Sasha confesses he has an acquaintance in Leningrad, a girl named Tanya, Vera Shershnyova, who invites him to her home. In Tanya’s place, Arkady’s voice never stops: he tells stories, cracks jokes, and even sings, while Sasha remains mostly silent, absorbed in his own thoughts and the quiet weight of war.

When they slip back to their unit late in the evening, they discover a fierce battle has raged in their absence, taking many of their comrades.
