Jake Thorne, Bruce Campbell, is a storm chaser whose friend and former graduate school advisor, Dr. Joe Branson Ernie Hudson, has developed a machine that could provide earlier tornado warnings. To work properly, the device relies on four firing legs with anchors that drive two feet into the ground, stabilizing it so it can collect data without being ripped away by the storm. Q. Jones](/actor/lq-jones) and an assistant, sets up at Ephram’s ranch near Byron, Texas, where tornado activity is expected in the coming days. Samantha Callen Shannon Sturges arrives as a government auditor tasked with judging whether Branson’s project deserves continued funding, and she stays on site to observe fieldwork and assess the data.
