The Spongers 1978
In the weeks before the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, Pauline, a recently separated single mother, is served by a bailiff and given fifteen days to settle her mounting rent arrears. Meanwhile, a cash‑strapped council cuts services, resulting in her mentally‑handicapped daughter Paula being transferred from a specialist children’s home into an elderly residence, leaving her isolated and alone.
