What Is The Solitudes About?
The premise of The Solitudes without spoilers.
In late 1992 the filmmaker created a Channel 4 television movie titled Las Soledades, after Góngora’s long poem. Shot in Chile, it weaves numerous Chilean poetic elements into the narrative, which is viewed through the eyes of a Chinese painter adhering to 18th‑century Shih‑Tao concepts. The wild, southern Chilean landscape provokes fear and madness, yet it is populated by very reasonable people, making the scenery feel all the more uncanny.
