The Meddler (2020): Cast & Plot

Aging widow Marnie is engulfed by loneliness and heartache, a ache that grows louder as her daughter Lori moves to Los Angeles to pursue work as a television screenwriter. Desperate to feel useful and rejoin life, Marnie heads west, hoping proximity will mend her broken heart and give her a sense of purpose she has been missing. Yet what starts as a well-meaning attempt to stay close slowly becomes overbearing, as Marnie begins to insert herself into Lori’s daily routine, phone calls turning into constant check-ins and surprise visits that blur into interference. Lori, already navigating the delicate terrain of therapy, finds the constant presence exhausting and counterproductive, a friction that sets the stage for emotional clashes and hard-hitting realizations.
