The Lead 1989
In Tehran, 1948, a young Jewish couple, Danial and his wife Munes, pursue immigration to the newly founded Israel, but their request is denied after documents link Danial’s uncle Yaghub to alleged betrayal. Zionist agent Yezghel finds Yaghub and stabs him; a neighbour who witnesses the crime is blamed for murder. Fearing retribution, Danial and Munes flee north, chased by the neighbour’s brother, journalist Nuri, who seeks testimony to clear his sibling’s name.
