Mitch is a journalist grappling with a sex addiction who, after being fired, pitches himself for a new position at a magazine. The editor challenges him to outshine the competition by delivering a more gripping story, which leads him to focus on Natalie Lovi Poe, a Stanford-educated escort he happens to meet. Initially uninterested, Natalie agrees to let him accompany her and provide security after a dangerous encounter with a client, and through this arrangement, Mitch discovers that she also spends time tutoring mathematics for schoolchildren. As they spend time together, she learns about his addiction, and the two gradually form a tentative friendship.
