Sandra Celestini [Claire Nebout], a college student on a field trip with her art class, becomes trapped overnight inside a quiet museum. The only other presence there is Lorenzo Colajanni [Vittorio Mezzogiorno], an architect who initially offers companionship and gradually draws her into a sexual encounter.

Sandra later discovers that Lorenzo had the museum keys the whole time, giving him control over the situation. She decides to press rape charges, turning a private boundary crossing into a formal legal case.

During the trial, Lorenzo pontificates on the nature of consent, arguing that Sandra desired the night and that her orgasm proves she gave ongoing consent, effectively claiming that what happened cannot be rape. This controversial stance centers on whether sexual pleasure can be used to infer consent, challenging common assumptions about sexual violence and accountability.

Giovanni [Andrzej Seweryn] prosecutes the case and succeeds in convicting Lorenzo, though the verdict is met with broad public disapproval and questions about whether true justice has been served.

Monica [Grażyna Szapołowska], Giovanni’s wife who feels sexually unfulfilled in her marriage and longs for a more aggressively engaged partner, is repulsed by the trial’s outcome and ultimately leaves Giovanni, reshaping their personal lives in the wake of the courtroom drama.

Lorenzo is ultimately sentenced to jail, bringing a formal closure to the courtroom proceedings but leaving a lingering aftertaste about blame, desire, and power.

Afterward, Giovanni happens to encounter Sandra at a party, and when she spots him, she pushes his face into a cake in a striking, cathartic moment that underscores the film’s uneasy exploration of justice and consequence.
