On May 1, 1975, Viet Cong troops parade through Saigon celebrating victory. Tham, the caretaker of the modest Victory Hotel in downtown Saigon, watches uneasily as the owners flee and the new government orders the property seized. The next day he learns the building will become a collective flat for Viet Cong cadres and their families. Though he accepts the change, Tham worries whether he will keep his job or be seen as an enemy under the new regime.
