The Woman Hunter 1972

Dina Hunter, Barbara Eden, a wealthy and emotionally volatile woman, travels to Mexico for a quiet holiday with her husband, Jerry Hunter, Robert Vaughn, after a traffic accident. An artist named Paul Carter, Stuart Whitman, becomes intrigued by Dina and offers to paint her portrait, drawn to the aura of danger and allure she carries. Dina’s growing interest in him deepens into a suspicion that he might be more than a painter — perhaps a jewel thief and murderer. She tries to tell her husband and the local authorities, but her warnings fall on deaf ears and are dismissed as exaggeration or paranoia.

It’s hinted repeatedly that Jerry’s architectural projects depend on Dina’s inherited wealth, a dynamic that adds a layer of tension to their fragile relationship. When Dina sees Paul approaching the house while she is home alone, she panics, jumps in her car, and tears off along twisting mountain roads. Jerry’s casual confession confirms the danger, and he reveals his plan to sabotage Dina’s brakes to trigger that earlier crash.

A battered Paul suddenly reappears, catching Jerry off guard enough to drive him toward the cliff edge. In a tense, final moment, Jerry goes over the brink as a gas tank explodes, sealing his fate and leaving Dina to confront the truth of the danger she faced and the fragility of her own world.
