The Wise Guy (2024): Cast & Plot

In a secluded corner of the Vosges mountains, the closure of a family chapter weighs heavy on Hector, who returns home after two decades in Canada to assume control of a sawmill tethered to an aging way of life. The workshop sits remote and stubbornly antiquated, its machinery long unable to compete with newer, more efficient operators. The local mood matches the plant’s stubborn inertia: a place where the work is hard and the prospects feel limited, and where few are eager to put in the effort needed to revive a fading legacy.
