The Warped Ones 1960

Criminal and jazz aficionado Akira Tamio Kawachi and his prostitute girlfriend Yuki Yuko Chishiro are arrested after a reporter named Kashiwagi Hiroyuki Nagato spots them fleecing foreigners in a jazz club. In jail, Akira meets Masaru Eiji Gō, and on their release the trio dives back into crime. They spot Kashiwagi and his artist fiancée Fumiko Noriko Matsumoto, strike him with a stolen car, and kidnap her. They haul her to a remote beach where Akira rapes her while Masaru and Yuki fornicate in the ocean.

Back in the city, they rent an apartment with money earned from fencing the stolen car. Masaru joins a yakuza gang, drawing Acira’s scorn as he pursues a supposed family life. Fumiko tracks Akira down and reveals that she is pregnant. Kashiwagi has grown distant, and she pleads with Akira for help. Akira arranges for Yuki to seduce Kashiwagi so that the couple might again be on equal terms. Masaru is killed by a rival yakuza. Yuki discovers that she is also pregnant, and without Masaru’s support she decides to abort and return to prostitution.

Finally, at an abortion clinic, Akira reveals that each woman was impregnated by the other man, a twist that amuses the former couple and leaves the latter bewildered.
