The Show Must Go On 2010

Croatia’s entry into the European Union in 2013 set the stage for a period of steady economic growth and broader stability across the country. Yet a hidden tension unfolds as an Asian terrorist coalition strains relations between Asia and the Western world. In 2020, producer Filip Dogan launches Housed!, a reality show that drops six couples into a closed, Big Brother–style house in Zagreb for 180 days, cutting them off from the outside world and the media.

As the days turn into months, international hostilities escalate into a global conflict that sweeps across Europe, transforming the continent into a battlefield. Military aircraft thunder over the city, and familiar landmarks like Zagreb Cathedral and Cibona Tower lie in ruins, a stark image of war’s reach. Inside the house, the participants remain unaware of what happens beyond its walls, their focus on trifles and everyday squabbles becoming the center of attention for viewers, who tune in with rising fascination and higher ratings.

To maintain the illusion of normalcy and keep the participants in the dark, Filip Dogan spares no effort and tightens his control. At the same time, his relationship with his ex-wife Helena Dogan, a journalist at a competing TV channel, grows increasingly strained, adding a personal layer of tension to the show’s already charged atmosphere. The narrative examines how entertainment, power, and fear intertwine when people are sealed off from reality, and how the crowd’s hunger for drama can warp perception in a world that is visibly unraveling outside the walls.
