The Secret Country: The First Australians Fight Back (1986): Cast

The film exposes Australia’s hidden past of systematic persecution of Aboriginal peoples. It argues that official histories have deliberately omitted the widespread violence and dispossession endured since British colonisation, when Indigenous peoples were deemed without land rights because they did not farm the soil. With no treaty and scant recorded resistance, the documentary reveals a long‑standing conspiracy of silence.
