Gaz, [Jake Curran], Nathan, and Terry decide to break into the countryside home of Richard Huggins and his wife Ellen Huggins after hearing rumors of a vast cash-filled safe. Mary, Nathan’s girlfriend, arrives outside to fetch her car for work and is talked into joining them, stepping inside when access to the safe proves elusive. She introduces a personal stake to the plan by revealing she is pregnant, a detail that quietly heightens the tension as the group presses on with their illicit certainty.

When the Hugginses return unexpectedly, the four intruders move quickly to subdue them, hoping fear and pressure will coax out the safe’s code. Richard, however, recognizes Nathan and Terry from their childhood, and that familiarity roots a pause in the heist that quickly escalates into chaos. Gaz pushes for control, attacking Nathan in a bid to regain the upper hand, and then binds Ellen, intending to menace her into compliance with the stolen account of the safe’s combination. This sudden violence exposes a brutal undercurrent to the affair, and Mary’s pregnancy adds a fragile, human edge to the looming danger.

A desperate struggle unfolds as the house fills with threats and shifting loyalties. Richard’s attempt to mislead the intruders with false codes backfires when Mary fights back, and Gaz is fatally countered by a blows from a sledgehammer. Ellen, meanwhile, suffers at the hands of the aggressors until Mary steps in with a sledgehammer of her own, ending Gaz’s menace and buying a fleeting chance for escape. As the dust settles, Ellen seems to recognize Mary, a moment that sours into suspicion and unease as the reality of their captors begins to crystallize.

What follows is a tense sequence of deception and manipulation. Richard tries to orchestrate a ruse—offering to operate on Nathan and pretending to call an ambulance—while Ellen attends to Terry’s injured foot. Mary witnesses an unsettling display: Ellen quietly coddles Terry and even kisses his bare buttocks after an injection, a sign that the couple may be toying with them rather than aiding them. The realization that they have been tricked sinks in as a disturbing secret emerges: Ellen has drugged Mary and Terry, a move that clears a path for a much darker revelation to come.

Under the influence of the drugs, Terry experiences a hallucinatory encounter with Jane, Mary’s missing twin sister, a young woman presumed to have run away months earlier. Richard presses Mary and Terry to drink tea as they talk about long-buried pain—the death of the couple’s daughter, Kate, and a troubling pattern of disappearances among local teenage girls. A growing sense of danger compels Mary to seek an exit, but the home’s walls tighten around her. She and a paralyzed Terry make a break for the garage, hoping to escape in a van, but a fatal shot from Terry ends Mary’s attempt to flee.

As Mary bleeds out, Richard taunts her, acknowledging that she saved his and Ellen’s lives from Gaz but confessing a far darker truth: the couple have kidnapped and imprisoned several girls in a vault beneath the house, dressing them up as little girls and calling them “Kate.” When Richard opens the vault, the horrifying reveal is that Jane, Mary’s sister, lies inside, a shiver-inducing image that marks the moment of Mary’s ultimate collapse. Her final sight is her long-lost sister, now a prisoner in the vault.

In a grim turn of atonement for their treachery, the Hugginses imprison Terry in the vault alongside Jane, a cruel reward for his complicity and complicating factors that led to Mary’s death. The film closes with a haunting, cold scene: Terry’s mother discusses her son’s disappearance with the Hugginses, unaware of the couple’s criminal partnership or of Mary’s freshly buried body in the garden, possibly alongside Gaz and Nathan still unaccounted for. The quiet countryside setting masks a nest of secrets, and the end leaves a unanswered question about justice, survival, and the price of crossing those who hide in plain sight.
