
After their father clashes with soldiers, siblings Anju and Zushio flee, only to be captured and sold into slavery. Their mother dies, and the cruel Bailiff Sansho subjects them to torment. Anju falls into a lake and becomes a swan, while Zushio escapes, is adopted by a noble, matures, and returns to battle the tyrant Dayu and free the enslaved.
