After the sudden death of their parents, Abby and Loren McWilliams move to the small town of Glenby, Florida, to live with their aunt Fay and their uncle Charlie, who run a modest amusement park with a gas station attached. The town’s rhythm is quiet but earnest, and the siblings quickly settle into a new life—Loren begins dating Karen Goodsell, the sheriff’s daughter, while Abby meets a local guy named Mark. Together they throw themselves into renovations at the park, turning hard work into a shared project that helps them feel at home in their unfamiliar surroundings.

Peaceful days give way to trouble when a confrontation breaks out in the school cafeteria. Loren witnesses a man harassing Abby, and the aggressor, Eddie Dutra, is revealed to be a drug-addicted teenager who leads a dangerous gang—Gideon Walters, Moonie, Gordo, and Joe Bob. Dutra fixates on Abby, competing with Gideon for her attention, while Abby finds both suitors unappealing. Loren steps in to defend his sister, and what starts as a protective feud quickly spirals into escalating violence between the siblings and Dutra’s gang.

The situation worsens as the gang escalates their cruelty, culminating in a brutal kidnapping. After an after-school dance, Dutra’s crew abducts Abby and drags her back to the amusement park, intending to force or frighten her into submission. Charlie is taken hostage as well, and he fights back in a bid to protect Abby. The battle turns deadly when Gordo is killed by the gang’s own dog; Dutra shoots Charlie in the struggle and maims him, then kills the dog, while Abby manages to escape into the park’s maze of lights and rides.

Power and danger collide as the park’s neon heartbeat becomes a weapon. Dutra throws the park into darkness and floodlights, turning the rides into a volatile arena. Loren, relying on an intimate knowledge of the park’s layout, steps in to confront the gang in a series of brutal confrontations. One by one, he overcomes them: Moonie is thrown to his death from the Ferris wheel, Joe Bob is electrocuted atop the bumper cars, and Gideon meets a grim fate on the roller coaster tracks.

The final pursuit pushes Abby and Loren to the edge. Dutra chases Abby into the gas station’s parking area, arming a fuel nozzle like a flamethrower to torch her would-be captor. Loren arrives just in time and grapples with Dutra, forcing the flame back onto him and ending his threat.

A hopeful note amid lasting scars. Charlie survives his injuries, and the park’s renovations are completed and reopened to the public. The tragedy fuels a renewed, darker fame for the park, as Charlie leverages the notoriety to draw more visitors. As Abby, Loren, and Karen drive away to enjoy a moment of peace, the threat lingers in the form of Joe Bob’s little brother Chad Bob, who watches them with a burning, unresolved hatred.
