In September 2024, at the tail end of Brat Summer and the apex of Charli XCX’s fame, Charli prepares to begin rehearsals for her arena tour debut while still promoting the Brat album. The plan is kept alive by Atlantic Records, which treats Brat’s cultural relevance as a platform for brand deals. One such deal creates a Brat credit card managed by a faltering bank run by Howard Stirling, promising fans a free tour ticket on signup. Before a launch event for this card, Charli makes her stance clear: she dislikes the arrangement and refuses to promote it on social media.

Tammy Pitman, an Atlantic executive, is persuaded to license the Amazon Music concert film documenting the Brat Tour, directed by Johannes Alexander Skarsgård, a pretentious filmmaker whose work Charli finds objectifying of women. He insists on watching rehearsals, much to Charli’s dismay and to Celeste, her close friend and creative director. Johannes takes over creative control, aiming to sanitize the tour into something more family‑oriented, clashing with Celeste who fights to keep intact the original vision she and Charli had crafted together. The tension between their approaches grows as the project moves forward.

Spread thin by the Brat promo push, ongoing rehearsals, and Johannes’s presence, Charli takes a sudden vacation to Ibiza, a break arranged by her assistant without her permission. In Ibiza, Charli encounters a cold, biting facial therapist who insults her and tells her to stop everything to have a child, then arbitrarily deems Charli too combative to continue. Later, Charli meets Kylie Jenner, and the pair discuss the pressure surrounding her career. Kylie advises that when people start to grow sick of her, she should “go even harder.” >“go even harder.”

With two weeks left until the first tour date, Charli argues with her managers over the phone, rashly deciding to post about the Howard Stirling deal to quickly fund Johannes’s expensive vision and smooth out the production.

The next day, Johannes revamps the entire visual presentation of the tour. Charli returns from vacation, unhappy with the direction but forced to continue because her money backs the project. His vision features numerous spectacle moments, including a giant lighter and cigarette, trite monologues, flashy costumes and makeup, and Charli suspended in midair with a harness. As Charli begins to have severe doubts about the tour’s quality, Celeste is fired after voicing concerns about Charli’s mental health. Mid‑rehearsal, Tammy, along with Atlantic’s legal team, confront Charli and reveal that not only did Charli’s post falsely advertise the credit card’s benefits, but fans had committed fraud to obtain those benefits, voiding the deal and bankrupting Howard Stirling. Facing a severe backlash on social media, Charli disappears from public view.

Six days later, in a meeting with Atlantic, Charli’s managers and assistant realize she hasn’t been seen or heard from since the Stirling controversy. Fearing for her safety, they rush to her London home and are relieved to find she has merely taken another break. Back in rehearsal, Charli records a lengthy voice message apologizing to Celeste, admitting that she has grown tired of Brat’s extreme popularity and the relentless need to be widely liked by others. She says that despite the tour being completely mutated from its original vision, she has decided to perform anyway, believing that the poor quality of the production may help bring the album cycle to a close. The film ends with a trailer for Johannes’s bastardized Brat Live! concert film, which turns out to be critically acclaimed.
