
The murder of priest Father Thomasino in a San Francisco alley leaves the police with few clues. Cop Joe Martini becomes obsessed, suspecting Sylvio Malatesta. Removed from the case, he quits his badge and pursues the killer alone, befriending the Malatesta family. Torn between loyalty to his old and new allies, Joe must decide if Sylvio is guilty.
