The story centers on a tense, slow-burning investigation that begins at an archeological dig in the Arizona desert. The unearthed spirit of Nahalla, a malevolent, long-dead shaman [Henry Bal], is unleashed under the watch of local archeologist and anthropology professor Dr. Kay Foster [Julie Amato]. Through the local Native American man Aranjo [Henry Bal], Nahalla seizes a foothold in the living world after Aranjo steals a Kachina doll from Nahalla’s grave and performs a ritual, setting off a chain of chilling events. As the dig site reels from a gruesome accident that sends a truck barreling into the excavation crew, the danger spills over into the town, and fear begins to spread beyond the desert sands.
