The film explores the life and legacy of Ludwig II of Bavaria, nicknamed the Swan King or Dream King. This handsome and beloved ruler was betrayed by his cabinet and died under mysterious circumstances. Driven by a pursuit of beauty, Ludwig commissioned three spectacular architectural projects: Neuschwanstein Castle, a fairytale inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty; Linderhof Palace; and Herrenchiemsee Palace, Ludwig’s homage to Versailles.
