Continuing from The Diam Diam Era, this film unfolds against the backdrop of the 1988 general election. Lim Ah Kun, Mark Lee grows increasingly disillusioned with government policies, and after being rejected to join Liu Shun Zhong’s Wang Lei party in the previous film, he decides to form a new opposition movement. To contest seats in the Toa Payoh GRC (referred to in the film as Gim Wang GRC) where he lives in a Toa Payoh HDB flat at Blk 128 Toa Payoh Lorong 1, Ah Kun teams up with Osman Bin Yusuf, Suhaimi Yusof, a nasi lemak seller, and Shamugam S/O Vellasami—the father-in-law of his younger brother Lim Ah Hee, a former hawker inspector and People’s Association officer—to form a new opposition party named C.M.I. (the initials stand for Chinese, Malay and Indian) and contest in the general election.

As their campaign heats up, the families of Ah Kun and Lim Zhao Di become swept up in the political whirlwind. Will Shun Fa, Richie Koh and Yong Xin resolve their differences? The fervor of campaigning pulls both households deeper into the fray. As Ah Kun weighs new strategies to win support, will the families be dragged in as well? Can Ah Kun, Osman and Shamugam really win the election in Gim Wang GRC?
