A prostitute, Bunny, is shown in the opening stretches of the film performing acts for clients, collecting her money, and using that money to fuel a cocaine addiction. For several minutes the montage alternates between her working, the purchases that fund her habit, and her aimless searches for the next client. The imagery emphasizes a cycle of supply and crave, set against a stark, sun-drenched backdrop.

She meets a truck driver, Hog, who asks if she has an addiction, and when she acknowledges it, he refuses her offer of a quick transaction and instead drugs her, eventually kidnapping her. What follows is a sequence of brutal, non-consensual torment: Hog attempts to arouse her while sexually and physically violating her body, and the violence escalates as he moves from kisses and cutting her clothes to branding her with a caduceus, shaving her head, and forcing her to watch tapes that document the tortures she endures. The punishments are delivered in a controlled, almost ritualistic manner, underscored by the unsettling dynamic of control and fear.

The film introduces a recurring, macabre ritual around a cruel game: the “Bunny Game.” Hog capitalizes on power by forcing Bunny to remain in restraints, navigating a grotesque scene where he wears a hog mask and she a bunny mask, highlighting the perverse exchange of roles and the dehumanization at the core of their encounter. The setting shifts through desert landscapes and claustrophobic interiors, reinforcing a sense of isolation and menace that permeates the days that follow.

Escape briefly seems possible when the back door of the truck is left ajar and Bunny slips away, running through the desert in a state of panic and elation. She is ultimately recaptured, dragged back, and placed on a crucifix-like structure. Hog explains a stark gamble: draw a long straw and win, draw a short one and lose. Bunny draws what appears to be the long straw, and she is carried away, unconscious or dead, onto Hog’s back. In a final, ambiguous moment, she is loaded into the back of a windowless van by a figure dressed in white, and her fate is left uncertain as the vehicle pulls away, leaving the audience with a chilling sense of unresolved danger.
