Spoilers ahead
In a quiet front room, the husband Jay Brazeau and the wife Ida Osler settle in for a quiet evening of Scrabble. The husband is stumped on his next word while the wife steps away to vacuum, leaving him to wrestle with letters as the TV glows softly in the background. He flicks over to his favorite show, Sawing for Teens, and drifts into a light doze, the familiar rhythms of their routine tilting toward something a little more unsettled.
Suddenly, an emergency broadcast pierces the program, announcing a worldwide nuclear war. Before he can fully grasp the gravity of the moment, a cat nibbling at the TV cord intoxicates the scene with chaos and knocks the screen dark, muting the crucial news that never fully registers.
