Kathirvel, Prashanth, is a compassionate village volunteer who goes to extraordinary lengths to secure water for his people as the land grows desperate with a failing monsoon. When the rains fail once more, he mobilizes an effort to dig a well and brings in Shanmugham, a water-divining expert, to help. Shanmugham, his wife, and their daughter Marikozhundhu Pooja Umashankar arrive in the village hoping to end the thirst. A freak mishap kills Shanmugham, and the villagers’ search for water continues, leaving the community to grapple with renewed uncertainty.

To survive, the villagers, led by Kathirvel, decide to leave the village and seek work in a farmhouse in Rajasthan. There they discover they have been brought as bonded labourers to a greedy landlord, Thakur Dass, aided by his ruthless sidekick Pa. Ranjith. The harsh conditions test them physically and mentally as they toil for three years, facing abuse and the erosion of their dignity.

A silver lining appears in Swapna, Thakur Dass’s sister, who becomes fascinated by Kathirvel’s courage and leadership, bringing a fragile spark of hope amid oppression.

The rest of the tale follows Kathirvel’s steadfast resolve as he fights for his men, helps them reach safety, and works toward returning to their village without putting anyone in further danger. The story culminates in a proud, life-affirming moment as he marries Marikozhundhu, marking a new chapter of resilience and shared future for their community.
