Bose Prabhu and his cousin Pandiarajan travel to a remote village to witness the miracles of the local Goddess, drawn by stories of divine signs and a place where faith meets hardship. As they arrive, the village carries a heavy memory from the past: Abirami, a young woman who drowned in the village pond, and the harsh judgments that followed. The community believes she paid for some unseen fault, and the Nattamai orders Abirami’s family to abandon the settlement. Her husband refuses to perform the last rites and leaves behind their little daughter, who is raised by Kamachi, the Nattamai’s wife. Over time, the village becomes barren and people leave one by one, haunted by superstition and drought.
Now grown, Abhirami’s daughter Karpagam faces a cruel demand from a wary village. Her uncle, a rowdy, tries to seize her belongings, but Bose intervenes and protects her. Yet the villagers push for an even darker ritual, forcing Karpagam to be treated as a dead body to incite rain. To shield her, Bose contemplates marriage to her, but the villagers reject this protection. In a confession that shifts everything, the Nattamai reveals the truth: Abirami was killed by Maruthu, the Nattamai’s own son, and the Nattamai concealed the crime. The Goddess responds with punishment: Maruthu dies and the Nattamai falls gravely ill. The revelation breathes new life into the village’s memory, and Bose ultimately marries Karpagam. The villagers offer their apologies to Karpagam, recognizing the injustice she endured.
Upon returning home with his wife, Bose is welcomed by his father, Manivannan, who blesses the union and prepares a warm wedding reception. However, the night reveals a twist: Bose discovers Ramya Sanghavi in his room, who claims to be the woman he has married. Perplexed, Bose asks his father to explain the strange turn of events, and the family history emerges from the shadows.
Raghavan Rajan P Dev, a police officer who has become a friend of Dharmalingam’s family, enters the tale with his own complex past. Ramya, Raghavan’s daughter, has crossed paths with Bose many times and grows to care for him. A web of misunderstandings briefly lands Bose in jail, but Raghavan clears the charges, only to be suspended and driven by a desire for revenge against Bose and Dharmalingam. Amid growing danger, Bose and Ramya fall in love and marry in secret, with the silent help of Dharmalingam and Pandi.
A brutal turn arrives when Raghavan shoots Bose and abducts Bose’s daughter, leaving Ramya in peril. Bose survives a gunshot and an ensuing accident but loses his memory of the past. Dharmalingam’s world is upended by the mysterious gap in Ramya’s fate, and the family struggles with the truth that seems beyond reach. Bose and Ramya’s history becomes something of a rumor and a memory that the family must confront.
Eventually Bose and his group relocate to a guest house with Karpagam and Pandi, where Ramya’s spectral presence returns to the foreground. Ramya’s mother recounts the tragedy surrounding Ramya and Raghavan, including the moment when Raghavan attempts to remove Ramya’s thaali and she tragically takes her own life. Raghavan dies from the shock of it all, leaving a void in the family’s past.
Ramya’s spirit arrives with a new, desperate wish: to live with Bose by inhabiting Karpagam’s body. Yet the Goddess intervenes, guiding Karpagam with her own strength. In a poignant moment of realization, Ramya understands the consequences of her deeds, relinquishes her hold, and withdraws. In the end, Bose and Karpagam find their lasting union, reaffirmed by forgiveness, mercy, and the village’s restored sense of justice—an ending tempered by memory, mystery, and the power of love to heal old wounds.
