A childhood promise between a boy and a girl hints at a future wedding, and that tender vow quietly threads its way through their lives. In the present day, Samantha Perez is inside a bookstore when she notices her friend Michie being jeered by Top Pendleton and his girlfriend outside. Assuming trouble, she steps in with a sharp words and a raised hand, only to have her friends pull her away. Inside the girls’ comfort room, Michie and her circle—including China and Maggie—admit the confrontation was just a game aimed at a breakup, though the moment still goes viral online. The clash leaves Samantha shaken, and a restless curiosity about Top lingers as she moves through exams and daily life.
Back at school, a chance encounter spirals into danger as Top and his gang abduct Samantha, brought to a nightclub by Red. The night becomes a battlefield of loyalties: Top asks Samantha to date him, she refuses, and a brawl erupts when Piggy and his gang crash the scene. Top is badly hurt, and Samantha’s concern deepens when she learns that his condition might be dire. A doctor’s scare makes her reassess everything, and she agrees to be his girlfriend—only for Top to reveal he will not die, calming fears but also complicating her feelings. Soon she discovers he is not just a thug, but the leader of the notorious Lucky 13 gang, a truth that makes her walk a fine line between affection and fear.
A trip to the mall brings a pivot: Top breaks up with his former girlfriend Hershey and introduces Samantha as his new partner in front of friends and family. Rumors swirl at Pendleton High about Audrey [Dela Cruz]’s supposed boyfriend—Top—sparking a tense dynamic between Samantha and Audrey. When Piggy’s gang abducts Audrey, mistaking her for Top’s girlfriend, Top rides to the rescue, proving once more that he can be her protector even as trouble circles them. The suspicions and confrontations mount, and Samantha’s trust in Top wavers as she denies feeding information to Piggy about Audrey. Top warns her to be careful and not to let her guard down.
Dinner at Top’s home becomes a crossroads: Top and his father clash over the death of Top’s mother, and the evening ends with a painful rift as he breaks up with Samantha because she seems too perfect for him. The revelation that Top is an ex-convict hits hard, especially when Samantha learns from Audrey that Top’s past includes abducting his girlfriend—who turns out to be his half-sister. He explains that he once helped her escape his abusive father, a truth that shatters Samantha’s earlier assumptions. The whispers around Lee, Samantha’s cousin, add another layer of deception: Lee admits to Top that Samantha was destined for a fixed marriage, an arrangement he claims cannot be broken.
With pressure from the Perez family mounting to seal an engagement between Samantha and Red, a grand party is planned to announce the union. At St. Celestine, the Lucky 13 gang whispers that Top awaits outside, and Samantha goes to meet him, only to be drawn back into a complicated kiss and a vow that she will return—though their paths seem temporarily blocked by a world of wealth, power, and parental expectations. As the night fades, Samantha and Top part ways, choosing to distance themselves while clinging to a stubborn spark that refuses to die. The two families depart for France, and Samantha’s life appears to be moving toward an arranged future with Red—yet the thread of their bond persists.
Two years pass, and a new, tragic turn ripples through their memories. Audrey reaches out with alarming news: Top has endured a life-altering accident after mysteriously vanishing. Samantha and Red return home, and she revisits the past—the childhood vow that began it all—remembering howTop and she once promised to marry someday. A dog leads her to the beach house where she finds a quiet miracle unfolding. Top, now blind, looks up to the sky and prays for a sign, for a second chance. In a liminal moment of reunion, Samantha finds him, their shared history converging with a present full of longing and loss. She embraces him with tears of joy, finally allowing the memory of that innocent promise to guide them toward a future where love, forgiveness, and possibility might still prevail.
