Tadeo Jones Tad Jones is a Chicago bricklayer who spends his days building the city’s subway and his nights dreaming of one day becoming a professional archaeologist. His relentless daydreaming, along with a comical misstep by his dog on the construction foreman, costs him his job. Undeterred, he seeks help from his longtime friend, the eccentric Professor Humbert, hoping to unlock a mystery he’s found—a vintage bottle of Coca‑Cola that hints at something more ancient than it appears.

The professor receives a summons from his colleague, Professor Lavrof, who is calling him to Peru to reunite the two halves of a stone “key” that could unlock the legendary Incan city of Paititi. When Humbert travels to Peru, he suffers a mishap at the airport after taking the wrong pills and ends up hospitalized. Meanwhile, a shadowy arm of the evil Odysseus Inc. watches from afar, sending a crucial photo back to its members who lie in wait in the Sechura Desert.

Seizing his chance, Tad steps into Humbert’s shoes and heads to South America with his loyal dog Jeff. In Cusco, he crosses paths with Freddy, a resourceful local who helps him navigate the unfamiliar terrain. Tad is soon captured by Odysseus Inc.’s operatives, who demand the stone key. Fate intervenes when Freddy and Sara Lavrof, the professor’s daughter, come to Tad’s rescue. Tad’s courage and Sara’s quick thinking spark a budding romance as the trio bands together to assemble the two halves of the key.

Together they journey toward Machu Picchu to reunite with Professor Lavrof. Odysseus Inc., led by the calculating Kopponen, intensifies its pursuit, but Tad and Sara escape their clutches and press on. In Machu Picchu, the team discovers that Professor Lavrof has been kidnapped by Odysseus and must be found before a planned extraction of the key can take place. A perilous booby-trapped room wipes out Kopponen and his henchmen, clearing the path for a final confrontation inside the temple. In a bid to seize the Incan gold and gain eternal life, Max covertly enters a chamber and deceives a mummy and a golem. He shatters the protective glass around the gold, triggering his own transformation into an undead mummy—an eternal life that comes with an irreversible curse.

Max is promptly imprisoned by the ancient inhabitants of Paititi, while the temple’s chief mummy grants Tad, Sara, and Lavrof safe passage to the surface on the condition that they keep Paititi’s secrets. Back among the living, the group persuades their friend Freddy that the legendary treasure might be nothing more than a myth, enabling them to proceed with a more grounded celebration of their journey. In a moment of personal triumph, Tad and Sara share a heartfelt kiss, marking a blossoming romance that had grown through danger, discovery, and mutual trust.

The adventure closes with the core trio—Tad, Sara, and Lavrof—alongside Jeff, and the enigmatic Belzoni, making a daring escape in one of Odysseus Inc.’s vehicles, leaving the door open for further discoveries beyond the edges of the map.
