Swamp Women 1956

Three escaped female convicts, Josie Nardo [Marie Windsor], Vera [Beverly Garland], and Billie [Jil Jarmyn], along with undercover police Lt. Lee Hampton [Carole Mathews], begin a search for stolen diamonds in the Louisiana swamps. The escape is allowed by the authorities as part of a broader plan to trail the fugitives and recover the diamonds. When word arrives that the stolen cache has been recovered by the undercover officer, the plan calls for rearresting the women and returning the diamonds to their rightful owner, but the scheme does not unfold as intended.

During the swamp hunt, the inmates seize a boat from a research geologist and his girlfriend, Marie [Susan Cummings], a move that sets off a chain of peril. The girlfriend is killed in an attack by indigenous alligators, underscoring the brutal dangers lurking in the marshy landscape. After the diamonds are recovered, one convict doubles-crosses the others, attempting to slip away with the guns and the loot, only to be killed by a fellow fugitive in the ensuing struggle.

The two remaining convicts grow suspicious of the undercover cop, and they threaten to kill the geologist if she does not reveal herself. A tense confrontation erupts between the convicts and the undercover officer, with the geologist lending support, buying precious time for the authorities to close in. In the end, the law enforcers arrive to regain custody of the surviving fugitives and restore a semblance of order to a swamp where every step is a risk.
