As the stand drags on, the tension mounts and the weary Kerberos warriors, led by the relentless Koichi Todome, brace for what could be their final confrontation. When the government finally breaches the compound, the fates of those inside unfold in a tense, decisive sequence, and the bulk of Kerberos is neutralized or captured.

Three years slip by, and a parole is granted to the intelligence-world operative known as Inui, who begins a determined search for Inui as he re-enters the world outside prison walls. His pursuit takes him across the sea to Taiwan, spurred by a whispered knowledge that Todome has been exiled there. On this quest, he crosses paths with a local resident, a young woman named Tang Mie, who has her own history with Todome. The bond between Inui and Tang Mie grows as they traverse cities like Taipei and Tainan, following faint leads and fragile rumors that gradually point toward Todome’s current life. Tang Mie, a figure rooted in the land he’s now crossing, becomes a steady guide as the two strangers begin to understand the man they’re chasing, and the man they might have to confront if they ever cross paths with him again.

Their search culminates in a fragile reunion with Todome, who now lives a quiet, solitary life as a rural fisherman. After a brief, heated exchange that quickly cools into uneasy reconciliation, the trio contemplates a possible future that would keep them away from the forces that once controlled them. Yet the past is never far away, and the increasingly pressured political landscape sends Hayashi, an operative from the Fugitive Support Group, with a stark proposition: Todome can surrender and receive a potential path to amnesty, allowing him to stay in Taiwan with Tang Mie, or he can refuse, forcing Inui and Tang Mie to live with the constant threat of being hunted by Public Security for the rest of their lives. The choice weighs heavily on all involved as the negotiations unfold.

Inui soon uncovers a stark truth about Todome: the Kerberos gear and the MG 42, perhaps the last vestiges of Kerberos’ original equipment, remain in Todome’s possession. This discovery ignites a conflict of loyalties, and Inui, driven by a blend of duty and desperation, defeats Todome in a brutal confrontation and forcibly takes the Protect Gear. With the gear now in his hands, Inui confronts Hayashi at a rendezvous point, captures him, and coerces him into helping put the armor on. The moment marks a turning point as Inui, now fully equipped, moves to confront the forces arrayed against him.

Armed with Todome’s Protect Gear and the MG 42, Inui storms an abandoned hotel that houses a Public Security unit, delivering a devastating assault that wipes out the squad, though not without paying a heavy price—he sustains serious injuries in the process. He continues to press deeper into an abandoned Kerberos facility, eradicating the remaining threat and forcing a brutal final stand. In the end, Inui is fatally wounded when the unit’s leader shoots him beneath the armor, bringing his mission to a tragic close.

With Inui fallen, Todome, now isolated in Taiwan, makes a quiet, resolute decision to return to Tokyo, where the shadows of the Kerberos uprising and the unresolved tensions between military force and civil authority linger, leaving a legacy that will haunt all who were part of this fateful saga.
