Stratosphere Girl 2004

Angela, a teenage artist with a gift for drawing, meets a charismatic Japanese DJ and falls in love, prompting a move to Japan to work at an exclusive club where wealthy businessmen seek the company of young blonde women. From the opening, the film maintains a surreal mood, populated by unique, almost caricatured characters, with crisp cinematography and slow, deliberate camera movements that invite careful attention to detail. In the final act, a twist reveals that Larissa is alive, and this revelation arrives alongside the moment when Angela, now recognized as a Manga artist, is offered a contract.
