As a child, Django, the father of Jeff Tracey, was murdered by an unknown assailant. Now an adult, Gabriele Tinti plays Jeff Tracey, a gunslinger who has spent years tracking the killer. After his horse is stolen, Tracey rides into the territory of Topeka, where rival ranchers Ignazio Spalla as Thompson and Daniele Vargas as Clay Ferguson are locked in a harsh struggle for control of the land and its people. Tracey ends up imprisoned after he shoots and kills three of Clay’s men, a bold move that marks him as a dangerous wild card in the escalating feud.
Escape comes with help from his cellmate, a Frenchman known as Four Aces, and from Logan, both of whom work for Thompson. Giovanni Ivan Scratuglia as Four Aces and Roberto Messina as Logan pull Tracey back into the fray, offering him a new path and testing his trust in a web of loyalties that stretch across the frontier. Skepticism remains because Tracey believes Thompson himself may have a hand in his father’s murder, adding a personal motive to the political fight over the region.
Tracey lends his skills to defending pro-Thompson rancher Joe Grayson when Clay’s men strike, and he encounters the preacher Gus Fleming, who Guy Madison is revealed to be—the man who says he saved Tracey after Django’s death. Fleming’s presence deepens the moral tension of the story, as his warnings and aid become part of Tracey’s inner conflict between vengeance and restraint. The territorial war intensifies as Clay launches a campaign to burn down Thompson’s ranches, including Grayson’s, underscoring how quickly personal vendetta and regional power can collide.
Tragedy strikes again when Jane Grayson, Grayson’s wife, tries to seek justice for her husband, but Clay’s brutal end comes at her hands instead. Ingrid Schoeller as Jane Grayson is drawn into the cycle of loss and retaliation, heightening Tracey’s resolve to confront Clay directly. As the plot threads tighten, Tracey learns that his father’s killer sits at the center of the violence, and Fleming’s pleas to abandon vengeance clash with Tracey’s growing hunger for retribution. The preacher’s attempts to steer him aside are met with defiance, and Tracey proceeds to pursue Clay with a determination that cannot be swayed.
A final confrontation unfolds in a fortified saloon. Clay has fortified his stronghold, anticipating Tracey’s arrival, and a tense gunfight erupts as Tracey pushes through defenses. Fleming returns with a large Clay posse, and Thompson responds by mobilizing his own forces to join the fray. The clash leaves Clay temporarily overwhelmed, yet he escapes with the money, taking with him the moment’s last sting as Thompson’s trusted lieutenant Mack is killed in the process.
Tracey remains relentless, tracking Clay to a place where the former captor is eventually found bound by Fleming, Thompson, and their men. In a decisive moment, Tracey shoots the ropes free and shares a final, silent glance with Fleming before riding off, the weight of his father’s murder—and the entire frontier’s blood-soaked history—pushing him toward an ending that balances vengeance with the weary resignation that violence leaves behind.
