Kam Yu-yee Carol Cheng and Kam Kat-cheung Jacky Cheung are siblings who were orphaned at a young age and have depended on one another ever since. Yu-yee, a nightclub madame, is deeply devoted to her brother and supports him, even though she has never approved of his girlfriend, Jackie. To strike back at Yu-yee, Jackie arranges for Kat-cheung to elope, but the plan goes awry when a traffic accident sends them careening down a mountain slope. Kat-cheung is rescued by a dead spirit who has lingered for two decades. With Jackie’s scheme foiled, she moves next door and summons her cousin Benjamin Natalis Chan Pak-Cheung to retaliate against Yu-yee, much to Kat-cheung’s annoyance. Meanwhile, Yu-yee also pursues a career breakthrough and works to please her boss, Big Sister Tang Pik-Wan. Big Sister dearly misses her only daughter Yuk, who drowned twenty years ago and holds a yearly dance party to remember her; Yuk Maggie Cheung is the daughter who haunts the memory of the household. To help with the ghostly plan, Yu-yee suggests organizing a ghost marriage for Yuk, and she is tasked with finding a ghost son-in-law for Big Sister. As the deadline approaches, Yu-yee supplies Kat-cheung’s birthday, the eight characters of his horoscope, and a jar of peanut powder posing as bone ashes to Big Sister. On the night of the wedding, Kat-cheung, who has gotten drunk at Big Sister’s mansion, sees Yuk in a wedding dress and experiences a sense of déjà vu, as if he has met Yuk before; the moment ends with them spending the night together.
