Set against a mystery centered on a ₹5 crore vintage Rolls-Royce named Shamanthakamani, the story follows its recent purchase by a wealthy magnate named Jagannath and the trouble that erupts when the car vanishes from the Provotel parking lot after a misstep by Jagannath’s son. The government assigns a conflicted officer to recover the vehicle, and the investigation quickly casts its net over three distinct lives: Uma Maheswara Rao, a talented car mechanic with a soft spot for his neighbor, Bhanumathi, a widow who sells vegetables on the street; Kotipalli Siva, a village native with dreams of a bold escape, and Karthik, a middle-class young man who has long admired a wealthy girl, Madhu.
The trio each carries an alibi that seems plausible at first glance. [Uma Maheswara Rao] is a kind-hearted bachelor who yearns to propose to his neighbor, and he invites her to the hotel for a date, hoping to break free from a life that feels predictable. [Kotipalli Siva] has plans to elope with his beloved Sridevi, but a backstabbing turn by her shatters him, pushing him to move to the city as a street-smart survivor. [Karthik], the son of a well-to-do astrologer, guards a flame for [Madhu], who has just returned from abroad; his attempt to impress her leads him into the hotel’s orbit.
In a moving turn, Krishna — Jagannath’s son — reveals a heartwarming secret to Ranjith Kumar. The car holds memories of his late mother, who had promised him this very gift on his birthday, and Krishna explains that he had secretly taken the vehicle to the party out of fear for his father. He pleads with [Ranjith Kumar] to retrieve it.
As the investigation unfolds, [Ranjith Kumar] identifies not-guilt in all three suspects. [Uma Maheswara Rao] merely opened the car to fetch a water bottle so his neighbor could vomit in comfort; [Kotipalli Siva] and a woman named Smitha entered the vehicle for a failed one-night stand after she sensed his rural roots. A twist of fate then sees [Kotipalli Siva] become entangled in a bribery moment with [Siva] mistaken for the car owner, and [Karthik] returns to the scene with the keys after a boisterous attempt to impress [Madhu].
With little evidence to go on, [Ranjith Kumar] closes the case and frees them. The truth erupts in a stunning revelation: the real thief is Jagannath himself. He had learned of an impending I.T. raid and moved illegal documents, black money, and ornaments into Shamanthakamani. Jagannath had his P.A. steal the spare key and staged a false complaint to divert scrutiny away from the car. He even offers [Ranjith Kumar] a bribe of ₹30 lakh to settle the matter. When the raid attempt falters, Jagannath returns for his wealth only to watch his fortune collapse, ultimately collapsing in a way that leaves him paralyzed as the car’s assets disappear from sight.
The film then pulls back the curtain further. [Uma Maheswara Rao] is shown to have secretly taken diamonds from the car when opening it, while [Kotipalli Siva] notices the black money and uses it to bribe [Ranjith Kumar]. [Karthik] realizes the spare key still contains a rare diamond. The ending folds these threads together: Krishna accepts the reality of his father’s flaws and chooses to support him, [Kotipalli Siva] opens a bar and restaurant in Kotipalli and learns that [Sridevi]’s husband has been arranging access to drinks for his friends, and [Uma Maheswara Rao] leaves for Dubai with his beloved. [Karthik] contemplates studying abroad with [Madhu], and [Ranjith Kumar] faces a departmental inquiry for his corrupt practices, closing the circle on a tale that blends memory, motive, and the weight of truth.
