A tense, sprawling night unfolds around the Seoul Station area as a brutal sequence of events folds together from street-level desperation to a city-wide horror. A homeless man drifts through the area with a bloody wound on his neck, finally collapsing near the station. A fellow squatter pauses to help, but by the time help arrives, the man is already gone. The survivor searches for him and discovers the old man has risen as a zombie, attacking him in a merciless surge of hunger and rage. This opening shock underscores a city on the brink and sets a ground truth for what follows: infection moves faster than authority, and fear spreads just as quickly as the bite.

In the midst of this catastrophe, Hye-sun is trying to survive a ruined life she left behind in a brothel. She now lives with her boyfriend, Ki-woong, who is desperate for money and intends to push her back into danger for his own gain. A blazing argument about money fractures their fragile alliance, and they separate just as Seoul erupts into chaos. The two stumble into the station’s nightmare, and Hye-sun and a small band of survivors shove their way into a police station, hoping for safety. They find themselves cornered inside a jail cell—an ominous echo chamber where a fallen phone drops, a sense of isolation grows, and a zombie-infected policeman begins to blur the line between guard and threat. The group’s fragile calm shatters as the infected crowd outside grows louder and more aggressive.

Back outside, a tense cat-and-mouse play unfolds as Suk-gyu Suk-gyu interrogates Ki-woong for Hye-sun’s location, while the city teeters on the edge of collapse. A frantic search takes them back to Hye-sun’s home, where the landlady has transformed into a zombie, turning a familiar place into a death trap. The pair barely escapes, scrambling across rooftops with a renewed awareness that every safe space is temporary. As night deepens, the rebellion of the infected becomes a chorus of marching footsteps, pounding on doors, and the chilling realization that the city’s institutions—police, hospitals, and even basic communication—are failing under the weight of the outbreak.

Inside the police station, the bite of fear becomes even more literal: the bitten officer calls for help, then dies and rises, biting another survivor in the cell. Riot police arrive just in time to push the infected back and give Hye-sun and an older survivor a moment of escape, but the sense of danger remains acute. An ambulance crew seems oblivious to the mounting crisis, and Hye-sun uses this moment to reach Ki-woong by phone, telling him she’s heading toward the hospital and asking him to meet her there. The old man panics when he realizes the hospital arena is overrun with bite marks and chaos, and he tries to seize control of the vehicle, causing a terrible crash that sends the survivors scrambling through the subway tunnels. Soon, Suk-gyu and Ki-woong are forced to improvise a path through the city’s collapsing infrastructure, aiming to locate Hye-sun before it’s too late.

Outside Hoehyeon Station, a fragment of humanity clings to a makeshift barricade as the infected swarm closes in. Those who survive are saved—yet only for a moment—because the quarantine is misread as insurrection, and the police become a barrier rather than a shield. The old man, speaking of the hardships he’s endured, is shot while trying to warn officials; the barricade is breached, and the infected flood into the perimeter. In the chaos, Hye-sun escapes but is scratched on her foot, a mark that becomes a grim symbol of the merciless spread of the outbreak.

Hye-sun eventually holes up in an empty model apartment and uses the moment to reach Ki-woong, revealing a devastating truth: Suk-gyu is not her father but her former pimp, and he has been chasing her to recover stolen money he had kept for himself. This revelation ignites a dangerous sting in Ki-woong, who had hoped for a clean reunion and a chance to help his partner. A violent confrontation follows as Ki-woong tries to subdue [Suk-gyu], but the pimp overpowers him and kills him with a cruel, final strike. In the panic that follows, Hye-sun tries to flee, but Suk-gyu corners her and attempts to assault her. In a brutal turn, Hye-sun dies, and Suk-gyu resumes his assault with a cruel sense of control.

The moment of dread shifts as CPR restores a horrifying realization: the scratch on Hye-sun’s foot means she’s infected. She reanimates, and in a final, devastating act she turns on Suk-gyu, ending the confrontation in a spray of blood and struggle. The camera widens to show Ki-woong’s lifeless body and the infected advancing through the quarantine, a stark image of a city overwhelmed by its own fear and decay. The film closes on this haunting tableau, a quiet note of loss and a sobering reminder that the outbreak has no respect for bonds, secrets, or the life-in-progress of those who try to survive it.
